Problem: I’m enjoying the warm air, sunshine, and overall relaxed atmosphere of a tropical vacation and can’t seem to wrap my mind around writing a blog. So, I decided to take the easy way out and share a few photos with you. That is an issue, as I have hundreds of photos of Merida. Merida is known as the White City or the Mayan capital of Yucatan State in southern Mexico. Tourists flock here to see its beautiful architecture, taste the delicious Yucatecan cuisine, and learn about the Mayan culture via museums, guided and self-guided tours, and live street and park performances. The centre of the city, Centro, is known for its colourful presentations, restaurants, and boutiques, not to mention the street vendors who constantly make their rounds with fans, cigars, flowers, silver keychains, shawls, snacks, and other goods. Merida is also close to many interesting spots, including the oceanside towns of Progresso and Sisal and Mayan spiritual wonders including Chichen Itza, Uxmal, Dzibilchaltún, and others in between. So you can imagine how difficult it is to choose a few photos to post on a blog I decided to go with those that have a place in my heart because of the colours. The rest? Well, there’s always another blog. Enjoy!
